As part of the ASICS FrontRunner team I have the luck and privilege to try many different models of running shoes. Still, I almost never ran in the Cumulus models and testing the new Gel Cumulus 22 was a fully new experience for me.

A new shoe is like a new buddy. Even if you like him/her very much at a first sight, you don’t know whether you will get along on the long run and how often you will see each other :) 
After logging over 100k together I am ready to tell you a few things about my new friendship.

What did I find out on my first run with Gel Cumulus 22

The shoe had an excellent fit as though it was tailor made for my foot. The ride was reminding of the one with Gel Nimbus 22 but still with few important differences. Cumulus felt much lighter, a little bit bouncier and still very comfortable.

The shoe has also a special reflective material that makes me feel extra safe on my night runs (that comes so early in this season).

Technology

To build up and perfect the Gel Cumulus 22, ASICS used the following technologies:

• FLYTEFOAM Propel Technology
• FLYTEFOAM Midsole Technology
• Reflectivity

Sole and Upper Unit

Gel Cumulus 22 offers great support and comfort for your run. Also the FLYTEFOAM Technology provides great shock absorption.

The 3D printed mesh upper impressed me firstly by its modern, fancy design and right after by its feel - breathable and comfortable. The unit feels very flexible as well thanks to the highly sophisticated materials used in the building process.




Pros and Cons


Running and travelling are my two biggest passions. In normal (non Covid) times I’m on a constant move and packing many pairs of shoes in my suitcase is not always possible, especially when trips are short and light. The new Gel Cumulus is a perfect travel companion because with only one trainer I am covered for different sessions and surfaces (long run, intervals, trail, gym workout...) Thus number 1 pro of GEL CUMULUS 22 for me is its versatility.

Besides its versatility here below are few more of the many pros of this model:

• comfortable shoe with extremely good fit
• offers good stability and support
• light weighted
• stylish design with 3D printed upper

I couldn’t notice any drawback of GEL CUMULUS 22. I only wish they were available in few more colors :)




Conclusion


Gel CUMULUS 22 is a comfortable and reliable everyday trainer for neutral runners. Also, perfect model for new runners that are on the lookout for a shoe with great shock absorption and suitable for different types of workouts. It’s the model I can always rely on no matter distance or surface.
