The new ASICS Gel Kayano 28 are still my go to road runners and I have been making the most summer and the long road runs on the way to Swedish SM100km next weekend in Halmstad with my new Gel Kayano 28's as my training partner.
The shoe creates a stable stride that moves me towards a balanced feel when i run and it is super important on my longer runs when fatigue starts to set in the the shoe can help provide that extra stablity when my technique may begin to not be what it should. The lower-profile external heel counter piece cradles your foot with improved rearfoot support and helps to make sure that my heel has the control i need.
ASICS added FF BLAST cushioning to the midsole and it provides a smooth and supportive feel in each step. The trainer's new GEL® technology shape delivers a smooth stride, allowing me to experience a softer landing without losing speed and reducing strain and fatigue on my body over longer distances

The shoes OrthoLite™ X-55 sockliner is very nice and helps to prevent hotspots and blisters over the longer distances and this is super important in the ultra distances as a bad blister can easily shut down a whole race, I notice this most as the reduce friction means my feet are in better shape after a long run which means a faster recovery time before i am back on the road again.
The Gel Kayano 28 are going to be my shoe of choice fro the upcoming Swedish SM 100km, its a 900m flat loop rather than my usual trail where speed and reduced impact are going to be most important for a successful race. I think the Gel Kayano 28 is going to give me my best chance a a good result, maybe even a PB. Stay tuned for a race report soon.
Enjoy your summer runs
Jessica
