ASICS triumphs in all five categories at the Runner's World awards with GEL-KAYANO 18 winning “Best update”

ASICS triumphs in all five categories with GEL-KAYANO 18 winning “Best update” in the annual awards, voted for by the readers of the German edition of Runner’s World, the world’s biggest running magazine. Over 8,000 readers participated in the latest survey, which asks readers to vote for the best running shoes.

The survey involved voting for the top shoes in five different categories, and ASICS shoes outperformed the competition in all categories and achieved even better results than last year.

In the “Stability” category, three of the top four shoes are ASICS models. Top of the list, once again, is the ASICS GEL-KAYANO, with the legendary running shoe also winning the prize for “Best Update” in the American and German surveys. According to the 2012 Spring Shoe Guide in Runner’s World, the GEL-KAYANO 18 “is a Titan”. Over the last 18 years, this iconic shoe has consistently impressed testers with its performance and constant improvements. Specifically, testers raved about the excellent fit, “especially at the rear foot, where a new external heel counter keeps a firm grip on the heel, whilst simultaneously wrapping your Achilles in cushy padding.”

The ASICS GEL-KAYANO 18 is available for both men and women.

Also in the “Stability” category, readers gave second place to the ASICS GT-2160 and fourth place to the ASICS GEL-1160 . In the “Cushioning” category, readers nominated two ASICS models, the ASICS GEL-NIMBUS and ASICS GEL-CUMULUS , as clear favourites ahead of the rest of the field.

Similarly, the ASICS GEL-DS TRAINER  and the ASICS GEL-TRABUCO (for men and for women) were also awarded first place in the “Racing” and “Trail Running” categories respectively. The GEL-DS TRAINER was the winner by the highest margin, with over 26% of people voting it their favourite shoe in its category.

These excellent results were corroborated by a reader survey carried out by the German running magazine “Aktiv Laufen”. In this survey, over 1,800 readers voted the GEL-KAYANO as top in the “Stability” category, whilst the GEL-NIMBUS 13 also took first place in the “Neutral” category. The results are due to be published in the March edition of “Aktiv Laufen.”
