England against Australia is one of the most celebrated rivalries in international sport, as the latest Ashes test between the two teams has proved.

Over the next seven months this sporting rivalry will be taken to a new level with the two teams locking horns a total of 25 times in Test, ODI and T20 cricket.

To celebrate this, we’ve released a short video featuring two players who will play key roles in the battles to come.

The two minute video explores what it means to pull on your shirt against the old enemy, how the historic rivalry shapes every cricketers childhood dreams, why performing against your greatest rivals can make or break you as a player and the physical differences taking on your fiercest rivals has on a player.

Having played in two previous Ashes series, Australian opener Shane Watson knows more than most what it means, “It’s as simple as us Aussies hate losing to the Poms. It runs so deep, deeper than I could ever imagine. That gives you that extra edge to your performance.”

Eoin Morgan, who has captained the ODI and T20 team in historic limited overs matches against Australia, still has ambitions of playing in an Ashes series for England, and said, “If you win, you’ve got the chance to go and put your name down in history. It’s this carrot of writing history that really helps me maximise my performance.”
