As a practicing dietician we were interested to find out what her 'cheat' or 'celebratory' meal was after that podium finish in Japan...

"First off I have to say that I’m a strong advocate for everything in moderation," she says. "I don’t actually like labeling certain food as 'cheat' or 'celebratory'."

According Sawyer, she prefers to listen to her body and is quite aware of what it is telling her it needs. "Our bodies are quite clever in that way," she says.

"After races I generally go for something high in easily digestible carbs, which is to be expected because after all the hard work my body is craving quickly accessible energy," she says.

So, after that race in Japan?

"I’m not too fussy so sometimes it’s a burger with chips, or a pizza... In Japan we went to get doughnuts, because boy do the Japanese know how to do doughnuts!"
