ASICS FrontRunner Admire Muzopambwa is taking on the 100km at Ultra Trail Cape Town at the end of November. He has one full week of training left and will then start his taper.

This past weekend he took the opportunity to put in some solid mileage on rocky, hilly terrain to make sure his body is conditioned for what Table Mountain might throw his way.

"My friend Gerald and I ran the 20km loop at the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve," he says. The reserve offers loops of various distances and technical levels, with the 20 being the longest and toughest.

Admire and Gerald had planned an early start, but due to work commitments the got there only at lunch time, in the heat of the day. "It was very hot,' he says. "Close to 30 degrees, but that was good for the training, in a way."

"The course is super technical with lots of rocks and steep climbs to content with. Once over the main climb the other side is flat and you can open the taps," Admire says.

According to him, his body felt good and he had no issues with past lingering injuries. His nutrition and hydration strategy also worked out very well and all in all it was a great training day for UTCT.

"The ave elevation is 1132m above sea level. UTCT is obviously a bit lower. I felt good through the entire day and ran the loop twice for 40kms total in that heat. I'm happy with how my body responded and am looking forward to putting in the last hard block before my taper starts."
