If you are a toe-striking runner looking for extra speed, the new METASPEED™ range is for you.

Our strategy with the new METASPEED™ range is to help runners perform faster with every stride because the formula for speed is stride length x cadence.

We've worked with our roster of world-class athletes, and during our research, their testing and feedback, we discovered there are two distinct styles of running.

One running style extends their stride length as they run faster while maintaining a similar cadence. In contrast, the other running style increases both their stride length and cadence as they run faster.

For this reason, we designed two different versions of this shoe to address the nuances of each running style. The METASPEED™ Sky supports runners who extend their stride length while maintaining a similar pace throughout their run. At the same time, the METASPEED™ Edge shoe supports runners whose stride length increases along with their cadence.

To delve even deeper into the science:

Stride-style runners run with a longer flight distance and more prominent vertical oscillation. This running style requires a more significant vertical rebound from the midsole to extend their stride. Whereas cadence-style runners run with a shorter flight distance and minor vertical oscillation, which means they need more control of force from foot strike to toe-off. This running style allows them to generate more forward energy to extend their stride.

Zane Robertson and the MetaSpeed Sky

Compared to our previous top racing shoe, the METASPEED™ Sky shoe could help toe-striking runners reduce the number of steps over a marathon distance by over 1.2%. It does this thanks to a propulsive carbon plate, responsive cushioning, and a unique midsole geometry that allows toe-striking runners to extend their stride without adjusting their cadence.
