Shorten your stride
The trick is to shorted your stride without putting too much extra pressure on your toes which will lead to straining your calves (leaning into your forefoot is a natural thing to do on a climb). Instead, get as much of your foot surface area on the ground as possible. Then keep your cadence short but consistent.

Run with rhythm
It might sound a tad 'airy-fairy' but hear us out - especially on the trail you need to run a climb for what it is. You need to let the terrain and the type of climb dictate your rhythm. This means adjusting the movement of both your legs and arms.

Choose the right grip
Having grip is really important going uphill with confidence on a trail. In addition you want something that is really lightweight for performance and speed. ASICS FrontRunner Stefano Maiorana suggests the ASICS FujiLyte XTs "because they are super light and responsive, with a grippy sole that will stop you from slipping," he says.
